Birds have long been a familiar part of everyday life, flying across open skies, resting on rooftops, or moving quietly through the trees. Inspired by these simple moments, curio created a collection of playful bird figures that combine two traditional materials: Giang pulp and Vietnamese lacquer. <\/p>\n
The animal is crafted using Giang pulp, a traditional material made by the H’Mong community in Hoa Binh, Vietnam. Made from the fibres of the native Giang bamboo, the material is prepared through a handmade process of boiling, soaking, beating, and drying. For generations, the H’Mong people have used this material to produce handmade paper. <\/p>\n
Each design begins with curio\u2019s original concept and is handcrafted by lacquer artist Nguyen Xuan Luc.<\/p>\n
Crafting stages:
\nGiang paper pulp is blended with fine clay to improve its strength and moldability.
