curio Lacquerware

LACQUER PAINTINGS, KNOWN AS SƠN MÀI IN VIETNAMESE, is time honored art that has evolved significantly over the century. It is an art form that blends traditional landscapes and cultural motifs, manual elements in production and skills in application that makes the style culturally significant and highly regarded.
At curio, with the collaboration of artists and traditional craft villages, lacquer is used as a main focal point during production and application. Through combining new materials and old techniques in creating contemporary products, we hope to introduce Vietnamese lacquer, and it’s expression of Vietnamese qualities and features, in a new language of aesthetics, decoration, application, and overall to allow our artisans to express their creativity freely through their artisanship.
